How does she do it all? Have you ever heard that before? I know I have. How do women who seem to be so busy with their regular jobs, kids, husbands and numerous other activities successfully take on Direct Sales as well?
Well, I’m here to tell you the secret.
Quite simply, the secret is… there is no secret. To make it work, you just have to be willing and ready to organize your time and take control of your calendar. If you are serious about making Direct Sales a “real” business and not just a hobby, it’s definitely possible. I’m proof of that. But you have to commit to putting in some work to make it happen.
I’m a full-time Kindergarten teacher, mom to two boys, a wife and I’m also active in children and youth ministries in my church. And I’m a Plunder Design stylist. So being organized is key for me. Each month, I sit down in front of my calendar and begin blocking out time. Oh, I didn’t mention the calendar? You MUST have a calendar. There’s no way to organize your time and life without it.
Whether you’re a paper & pencil calendar girl (ME!) or you prefer an online version, a calendar you can easily refer to and you feel works for you is an absolute must. I go through my calendar day by day to make sure I list all doctor appointments, school and church activities. Then I see where I might schedule parties or vendor events for my Plunder Direct Sales business. This order ensures that I work my business around my life, and not the other way around.
Organization is Key in Direct Sales
Having a detailed calendar system in place is important because it ensures I know ahead of time when I am making contacts with potential hostesses and vendor event organizers…and I know for certain I am available. I also can see the times I have blocked off with my family so that they aren’t cheated of any of my time. Also a MUST.
Now, I know what you’re thinking… “It can’t be that easy!” And you would be correct. Yes, sometimes we all have those curve balls thrown at us and thank goodness, it’s our schedule to tweak. While I would love to say that I have never gotten overwhelmed by my life and business, that would not be true.
Sometimes, life happens. The difference, though, is that in Direct Sales, I am the boss. I make the decisions I need to make so that my life and my business co-exist in harmony. I control my time and energy. And that makes all the difference.
Balance is not achieved in one day, but by taking the crucial step of establishing a monthly and weekly calendar that works for you, you are taking a huge step in getting there. Soon, you’ll be that person others are referring to when they ask, “How does she do it all?”
